The Green Technology Initiative has been set up to help UK businesses reduce the carbon footprint of their IT systems in line with the government target of a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2010. We are soley focussed on the reduction of emissions and the ammount of work a business can get done for every tonne it emits, that means it is not about offsetting or carbon trading neither of which are part of a strategy to reduce emissions.
The Initiative is not about being green for the sake of it. We recognise that most businesses cannot risk their growth and survival on reducing their carbon footprint for the good of the planet. What we do is about efficiency, the best way of reducing carbon outputs while staing in line with commercial objectives. Most of us now realise that the heavy hands of taxation and legislation are on their way to force us into making change, we'd like to help you head them off at the pass.
